Exam fact
If you are planning to go on to university you'll want to make sure that UCAS is kept informed about your grades and any changes to them. Here we answer the most commonly asked questions.
Results are sent to UCAS on the Friday before the summer results week – so UCAS receive the results even before you do. Consequently, if you haven’t done quite as well as you were hoping and wish to go through Clearing, contact UCAS straight away, as all Universities will know exactly how many students have achieved the grades required and how many places they still have available. Remember, Clearing is sometimes a first come, first served operation!
We are sometimes asked to confirm with a university that a student has achieved a particular grade. This usually arises when a late re-mark has been carried out. If you know that someone from your school/college will be contacting us to ask us to confirm your grades, please make sure that they are able to give us the following information:
1. Your UCAS application number
2. The course programme number for which you have applied
3. The phone number and/or e-mail address of the Admissions Tutor/Registrar.
January series examinations results are sent to UCAS when they are complete.
Edexcel sends results for its BTEC students to UCAS each Monday from the middle of July until the middle of September. These results are then received by Higher Education Institutions by the end of that week. There is no single date for BTEC results as results are received from centres throughout July and August.
BTEC results include the overall qualification grade (if the course allows for one) and a complete set of unit titles and grades achieved. In the case of BTEC Nationals there are overall grades for BTEC National Diplomas (3), BTEC National Certificates (2) and BTEC National Awards (1). Details of overall grades and UCAS tariff scores are on the Edexcel website here
Where a centre has reported an incorrect unit grade to Edexcel and this error is reported to us, we will send an amended result to UCAS once the amendment is processed.
If a Higher Education Institution has not received a result, please contact the Examinations Officer at the centre at which you studied. The Examinations Officer will contact Edexcel on your behalf to resolve the issue.
